June Currently

Wow!  It's already June!  I can't quite figure out where May went to.  The beginning of each  month always gives me warm fuzzies! I love Farley's Currently. It gives me a chance to think about what is going on in my world, and it lets me catch up with others.  Stop by and visit Farley and link up with her ever popular Currently this month!

Listening:  Right now.. Dave Mathews Band.. as usual.. DMB has been on my brain all month long!  Hubs and I went to see him last weekend.  We stood in the rain for 2 1/2 hours and listened to him play.  Awesome!!  I am such a big fan!  Sorry this isn't the best picture.  I had to settle for lawn seats this year.  I miss being in the pavilion!

Loving:  Summer is finally here!  We have three weeks of school left, but the summer here!  The last few days it has been in the upper 80s with a great breeze.  Perfect weather for travel softball.

We have spent most of the weekend at the fields.  My 24, who catches, won an MVP medal in her tournament.  Fabulous throw down to second for an out, and a great at bat! Woot!

Thinking:  Only 3 weeks left of school!  I hope I can make it!  I have a tough class.  A few boys feel that they need to make comments after EVERYTHING we say.  UGGGGG I'd love to end the year with a positive vibe in our classroom.  It will be a tough 3 weeks!

Wanting:  To get back into my running program.  I am hoping that with the school year ending I can get back into some sort of running routine in the morning.  I have started to keep track of calories again.. which is at least a step in the right direction!

Needing:  To prepare for my Little Man's Fifth grade graduation!  Not a super big deal, but it is a milestone of leaving behind elementary school.  Last week they had an assembly and he was presented with a Presidential Award for Academics.  He is very nervous about going to middle school, but I know he will do a great job!

Are you already out of school?  I am so jealous!  Do you have any summer goals?

I know most of my weekends will be spent at the ball field, but I am hoping to spend a little but of time working on some new TpT products.  I also have a social studies curriculum to learn.  Next year I'm on a two man team. I'll be teaching ELA, Math and SS.  I'll be looking for a few pointers!  

Vacation Essentials:  My camera is the first thing that comes to mind.  I usually try to take my SLR with me, but my iphone does in a pinch.  A good book... need I say more?  I'm reading The Paris Wife right now.  It is about Ernest Hemingway.  Have you read anything good lately?  I usually read a few professional books as well as fun books.  Let me know about anything that you think was a good read!

Last,  friends are always fun on vacation... or at least family that can relax and enjoy the time spend together.

May Currently

I love the beginning of each month when I can link up with Farley and visit my bloggy friends.  It so nice to meet new people, and find out what people are doing inside and outside of their classrooms.

Listening:  This month I will be sending A LOT of time at the ball park.  My daughter plays softball for her school and on a travel team, and my son plays Little League.  I never mind soaking up a little sunshine in my chair... key word being SUNSHINE.. when we are at the field and it's 40.. that is NOT fun.  May has started off in the 70s which is perfect weather.

My "24" is a catcher, so it is always fun to watch a little action from her behind the plate.  My son "little Man" is a pitcher.  He managed to strike out 3 batters in 2 innings this week.. of course he walked 5 kids and hit one.. being 10 is tough!

Loving:  SUNSHINE... SUNSHINE.... SUNSHINE... 'nough said!

Thinking:  I'm going to see Dave Matthews at the end of the month!  I am sooooo excited for this concert.  DMB is my all time favorite group.  I have been watching their set lists and creating playlists on my ipod with their sets so I will be all ready.  Last year when I saw him I had FABULOUS seats.. like 8 rows from the stage.  THis year, not so much. But I'm not going to let that stop me from having a great time! WOOT!

Wanting:  I want to be done grading our ELA and Math assessments!  I have been out of school all week grading.  I left an awesome lab that I created for Surface Area for my sub, and I really wish I was there to do it with my smarties.

Needing: Our last unit of the year is on Data and Statistics.  I have a ton of time to cover a few benchmarks, so I want this unit to be hands on with lots of sample collection, application and analysis.  I just can't wrap my head around it yet.. too much grading this week.  And.. oh yeah.. who wouldn't love a relaxing pedicure!  My "dogs" are tired!!!

Summer Bucket List:  Gator Nation:  Can't wait to get back to a little Gator Sunshine!  We love spending time in Gainesville.

I'm also looking for a little PD this summer.. so if anyone knows about a discussion group with Lucy Calkings new book about the Common Core, send me an email or leave a comment.  I'd love to join in.

Lastly, I need to get back into my running routine.  I have been such a slacker, and I need to feel healthy again.. both brain and body (thus the RUN and READ)

April Currently

Wowza!  April already!  It is hard to believe considering that March felt like the LONGEST month ever!  I'm linking up with Farley and her Currently while I am off drinking in a little sunshine over my Spring Break.

Listening:  It is so nice to visit with family over Spring Break.  We had an Easter egg hunt yesterday in the warm sunshine and the kids had so much fun.

Loving:  How about my Syracuse Orangemen!! Final Four Baby!  That is so exciting.  Those boys have had an incredible run to Atlanta.  They are so exciting to watch.  I love this shot of Michael Carter Williams.  He is warming up at a home game, his face just makes me laugh.

Thinking, Wanting and Needing:  I'm on Spring Break this week.  Although I HAD big plans to work on a few things for my classroom, right now I need more vitamin D in my life.  I think relaxing poolside and working on my tan is needed for a few days before I dive back in to school work.  The temperatures in the North East have been awful.. cold.. snowy.. unspring like.  So I am enjoying the warmer weather with  my family. 

Advice:  I've only been blogging for about 7 months, so I am still learning a LOT from the wonderful people out here in bloggy land, but one thing I think is important is leaving people a little comment love when you like something they have to say.  I find my blog gets a ton of hits when I put up freebies, but there are few comments.  If you like what people have to say, or even the Freebies they are offering, take time to comment back to them.  I have met some great people in bloggyland over the past few months, and it has really pushed me to think differently.

Currently March Mayhem

It's the beginning of March..... spring is coming.. I'm hoping to be feeling it soon, since right now March is a roaring LION..blah.

Needing:.. Ok, I'm going out of order.. but I am NEEDING to talk to people about the Lucy Calkins conference I just attended.  She is FABU!!  I wish her units of study would come out for middle school.  K-5 comes out this month, and looks awesome.. as in I am wishing I were back in an elementary building so I could teach using this writing program AWESOME... as in I am way jealous that I have to wait until JANUARY for the middle school edition.  I picked up her latest book which discusses the Common Core.  very good so far... Listening:  Right now, I am an unhappy Syracuse Basektball fan.  After setting an all time highest EVER basketball attendance record last weekend.. there were 35,012 screaming Orange fans in the Dome,.  They retired Carmelo Anthony's jersey,  BUT Cuse boys have lost 3... THREE.. Tres... in a ROW!  That hasn't happened to us since 2011.  Basketball fans.. it is not a happy place if you are a Syracuse fan at the moment!

Loving  My hubs is home for the weekend.  He is a PhD student and is a busy busy busy bee.  He started his spring break this week, and before he has to jet off again to go with the UF women to Georgia, he is home visiting us.  We miss him tons.. so this is a special treat for us.

Thinking:  Hmmm I have work to do for my ratios unit.  My smarties were NOT smarties when it came to this assessment last week.  They are struggling with the word problems.  I need to make a retake assessment for them, and take some time to reteach a few basic concepts.

Wanting:  Mini eggs.. I <puffy heart> LOVE mini eggs.

Like: Been here done that....

Love: March Madness is coming.. I love watching the NCAA tournament.  We do a huge tournament at school with 64 of the most popular books that have been taken out of our library.  I also do a huge bracket on the wall after selection Sunday and we pull in some geometry, ratios and stats lessons to go with it,

Hate:  Monday mornings.. nuff said!

FeBrUaRy CurRenTLy and Sale REmIndER

I love the beginning of a new month,  and February.. what's not to love about a SHORT 28 day month,  Ground HOGS!  Woot woot...,  Superbowl.. Mardi Gras....LOVE.. who can't LOVE Valentine's Day.. Winter Break, and my Hubbies Birthday!
February is a pretty busy month in our house and I like every minute of it.  It is DREARY weather here in February and having a bunch of things to look forward to makes the month go by quickly!
Here is my Currently for February... of course you have to LOVE Farley!

I'm a little late on the Modern Family Bandwagon.  We are currently working our way through Season 2, but my kiddoes are loving it too, which makes it a fun show to watch together.

I can save my obsession with Elementary and Nashville for after they go to bed.

As I had stated earlier, February is a busy month for us.  I am going to try and make it a special month in our house.  The winter is cold and dreary and I am TIRED of it already!

Of course there is weekend school work to be done.  I can't remember the last time I actually had a weekend free from school work.  I think I'm a pretty good planner, but there always seems to be something to finish.. or START.. Ha

I am wanting a cup of Chicory Coffee.. LOVE this...it is an obsession.  I tried it for the first time in New Orleans at the Cafe Du Monde.. now every time my hubby travels there, he MUST come home with a can.  I savor every cup!  Happy Mardi Gras!

I'm needing a serious dose of chocolate right now.. Isn't this box of chocolates so cute!  It has a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy on it! My Berner was a cute puppy too.. I've sent the picture to my hubby several times.. hint hint...
